Angels & Demons

A misty dream through which
A terrible fond memory runs.
The beloved one and his brother,
Gifted with visions of angels and demons.

In a world of monsters and sodomy–
A brief flicker in the darkness:a light,
Pure and healing; distant yearning,
A cause for which he’d be honored to fight.

Lacking not the spirit, only the means
Awash in fear, loathing and shame,
He needed a hero, an uncommon man,
Making monsters fear the mention of his name.

Yet the abomination refused to yield,
Signs of a dragon-slayer, there were none.
Only a brave brother, a human soul shield,
Ensuring that, for every loss, something was won.
