As you can see by the date, this one was written almost 24 years ago. Unlike some of the other older pieces I’ve posted on this blog, I didn’t edit this poem at all. What you see below is exactly as I typed it up in 1992.

Lonely Eyes

Lonely eyes
Look toward the sea
Lonely eyes
Looking toward me

Lonely eyes searching
For something that may not exist
Lonely eyes searching
With lips that remain, as yet, unkissed
